THOUGHT

Millennials are faced with a unique challenge of understanding the transformed ethos of communication and expression, and also operating successfully within it. Technology that is replacing itself with a better version every other day, demands a specific assimilation and articulation of thoughts, ideas, concepts, strategies, and courses of action from the new-age performers.

RATIONALE

The academic curriculum coupled with structured co-curricular and extra-curricular activities is imparting the young minds with the relevant technical skills. However, the skills to communicate well, more so, the skills to conceptualise an original idea, and then to express it with the intention of influencing others are overlooked and untouched in traditional pedagogy. This gap can be bridged through a unique programme of experiential learning that stimulates awareness, accomplishment, and articulation in the impressionable and formative years of a person. The competency to communicate well and to influence deeply should exist within a person as a positive habit that becomes the second nature, which will be built through a unique programme of experiential learning that stimulates awareness, accomplishment, and articulation

METHODOLOGY & STRUCTURE

The young person between the age-group of 12 to 16 years, will be part of a very small group of 5 to 8 persons who will be his/her peers. The group will meet once in a week to learn and absorb the concepts of impactful communication.

Aware: this aspect of the programme, the first step, will be achieved through a series of varied stimuli to which the youngsters will be exposed. These stimuli will include:

reading books on the life-story of real life heroes like Sachin Tendulkar, Nikola Tesla, APJ Kalam, Tata group; thought-provoking documentaries; epoch-making speeches of world leaders; movies based on real life; classic literature books; poetry; and visits to cultural events in the vicinity, among other avenues that become available from time to time.

Accomplish: this aspect of the programme will involve sharing with the youngsters specific tools, techniques, and skills to acquire an appreciation of experiences they have been exposed to during the first step of the programme. This is the second step which will follow the first step of awareness for each stimulus. Imparting of skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in all relevant contexts will be undertaken through illustrative means.

Articulate: this aspect of the programme which will be the third step to every stimulus, will initiate an expression in the written or the oral form, from the child. The piece of communication will be reviewed by the facilitator and the group during a discussion period. The modifications will be incorporated, subject to the choice of the participant, into the composition and it will culminate into an articulate expression.
